Session 4: Let God speak to you, Prophetic analysis for 2020 &Beyond
1. Purpose of prophecy

3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening,encouraging and comfort.

24 But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, 25 as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”

31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.

2. Nature of prophecy

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.

3. Testing of prophecies

20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

4 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

4. Understanding conditional aspects of prophecies

14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecywhen the body of elders laid their hands on you.

15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.

God is in control

Matthew 8:23-25New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Calms the Storm

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

1) Sometimes Jesus leads us right into the storm (v23)

2) Jesus can sleep in the storm (v24)

3) Don't have more faith in the storm than in Jesus.

1.Trust God 

So many verses that convince us: Isaiah 50:10, 1 Chronicles 5:20, Psalm 62:8, John 14:1, Daniel 6:23, Hebrews 10:23, Exodus 14:14, Jeremiah 29:11

2. Receive God's grace

Psalm 78:38New International Version (NIV)

38 Yet he was merciful;
    he forgave their iniquities
    and did not destroy them.
Time after time he restrained his anger
    and did not stir up his full wrath.

Romans 11:6New International Version (NIV)

6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

James 4:6New International Version (NIV)

6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
    but shows favor to the humble.”

16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

3. Let the trial benefit you

James 1:2-4

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faithproduces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

4. Fellowship

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12New International Version (NIV)

9Two are better than one,
    because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
    one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
    and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
    But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

5. Godly counsel and teaching

Proverbs 12:15 

The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

2 Timothy 3:16-17New International Version (NIV)

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a]may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Who is against you?

-Satanic? 

   Spiritual warfares.

   Romans 8:31-35

-Self-induced?

   Consequences of our own errors.

   Proverbs 11:2, Romans 6:23, Galatians 6:7-8, Phil 3:18-19

- God introduced?

   God does not want to be our enemy but he wants us to come back under his Grace

   James 4:6, Psalm 147:6
