Deciding to come out

John 2:1-11New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Changes Water Into Wine

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
“Woman,[a] why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[b]
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signsthrough which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

1. Raise the flag, Jesus revealed his glory.
Objective of raising the flag:
- others will know we are believers and can ask us questions

1 Peter 3:15-16New International Version (NIV)

15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

-light can shine

Matthew 5:14-15New International Version (NIV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

2. Rise above reluctance.
Jesus was initially reluctant (v4)
Reason for reluctance:
- we tell ourselves we are not ready but the more you think you are not ready, the more you should do it
- fear of others
-fear of consequences

Luke 12:8-9New International Version (NIV)

“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God.

Write down your reluctance & overcome it!

3) Rise to the God moment (v5-10)
-Dont miss out on church services, camps, etc because God may speak to you. Don't miss the God moments!
I am glad I went for OC because I have been incredibly blessed by all the different speakers and how God has spoke to me through them. I am glad I didn't miss the God moments.

Our willingness will achieve these effects:
1. Faith will increase
2. Miracles can happen
3. Strangers will be impacted by you coming out.
