Harvester #testimony

This is wayyyyy overdue. Sorry for the lack of updates recently because it's mid sem exams & assignments period and it's hard to find time to blog. But yay, some time to update now!

So a few post back, i mentioned about being evax coordinator but have yet to share the experiences during evax. Honestly, the scariest thing about evangelism is not knowing how people will respond when we approach them. But that is also the best part about it! Sometimes, I walk away thinking: That went better than i expected! And would be extremely encouraged to see how God is working in different people through different ways. I may not be the one helping them to receive Christ but i hope that our encounter will point them closer to God. After all, we are placed in different people's lives at different point in their lives to do what is appropriate at that point. Sometimes we don't see the fruits of what we are doing but we should have faith and trust God. Instead of focusing on this, we should just focus on partnering with God.

1 Corinthians 3:6 "I planted the seed, apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow."
We can be a bridge and do our part but ultimately God is the one in control.

Last Week's evax
We usually do evax in pairs and last week, I was with N. It was an awkward pairing cause we are not very close and have never done evax tgt before. We walked around for quite awhile and did not talk to anyone cause we both didn't know who to approach. After awhile, we figured that we should really talk to someone, instead of just walking around. So, we approached this girl. Honestly, I had mixed feelings because it's actually my first time approaching an Australian and did not know how it would go. We learnt that she is not a christian but is actually thinking of taking a minor in Religious Studies. She was quite open and we managed to get her contact and invite her. Honestly, we do not know if she will reply when we send follow up text or if she will come when we invite her but I hope we managed to make her day and point her one step nearer to God.

After that, we still had 10 minutes before debrief so we were thinking if we should talk to one last person or just call it a day. In the end, I went to talk to this Australian guy with a beard. Turned out that we were doing a similar degree and could talk about the courses we had in common. He was also learning chinese as an elective. He actually thought I was from China and did not know Singapore exist/ that we speak English as our first language (what's new haha). Before he left for class, I gave him my contact and ask him to text me if he would like to join us on fridays for life group. Well, I don't know if he would but I'm leaving it up to God.

Will definitely continue to uphold the friends we meet during evax in prayer. That they will have open and curious hearts, and that they will come to know God personally one day.

Rejection
Of course there are times when we approach someone and they are clearly not interested in what we have to say. One thing I have to remind myself is that when I approach people, I am representing God and when people are not open to conversations, I should not take it personally.
Luke 10:16 "Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me."
Galatians 5:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

Reminder
1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain."

3 Ds in evangelism:
Develop friendship,
Discover stories,
Discern where the Holy Spirit is leading.

To end off, I want to encourage you to share the love that we have received!
1 John 4:19 "We love because He first loved us."
Luke 10:2 "He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
It may be out of our comfort zones, but it's time to step out.
Time to put others before ourselves.
Jesus did not die for us to pick and choose who should come, salvation is for everyone. Are we willing to be the bridge?
Despite our fears and weaknesses, God can still use us and provide us with the boldness and strength we need.

God bless!
