1) Worship - to know and love God (We were created for God's pleasure)
2) Fellowship - love others (We were formed for God's family)
3) Growing to spiritual maturity (We were created to be like Christ)
4) Serve God by serving others (We were shaped for serving God)
5) Do missions (We were made for a mission)

I am currently on day 30/40 and it talks about the fourth purpose- serving God.

5 factors that influence serving: spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality and experience.

1 Corinthians 12: 6 "There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work."

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Job 10:8 "Your hands shaped me and made me."

1 Peter 4:10 "Each one should use whatever gift he's received to serve others."

Matthew 20:28 "just as the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Points:
1) Serving like Jesus means being available.
Proverbs 3:28 "Do not say to your neighbour,"come back tomorrow and i'll give it to you", when you have it with you."

Phil 2:4"not looking to your own interest but each of you to the interests of the others."
One of the barriers to being available is self-centredness.

Luke 16:13"no one can serve two masters. Either you will hate one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. you cannot serve both God and money."
Another barrier is materialism.

2) Serving like Jesus means being grateful.

3) Serving like Jesus means being faithful.
1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Ecclesiastes 11:4 "Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap."
If you wait for the perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done.
The best time is now.

4) Serving like Jesus means being generous.
You can give without loving. But you cannot love without giving

So, these are what i took away from day 30!
Imagine how much more you can learn by doing day 1 to day 40.
So really encourage you to use the purpose driven life resources (book or website).
So thankful this book was recommended to me. Now, it's my turn to share it with others!
