Today's sermon was about Friendship.

& i thought to share what i've learnt from it ☺

The three main components are : True frendship love and cares, True friendship trust and protects, True friendship last.

True friendship loves and cares

In friendship, we should have a covenant love and not a social love.

The difference is that covenant means a agreement made to God or before God and social is defined by the world, for mutual benefits.

We should also love beyond personal gains.

It simply means that we should not befriend someone for something (popularity, money, status, etc)

We should also love despite personal risk.

It implies that we should love even if we might be rejected etc.

True friendship trust and protects

Example: if your friend is in a different situation, you should encourage them and pray for or with them.

Example: when others are gossiping (OK, I'M GUILTY but i'm really trying to have self-control and kindness ☺) , instead of joining them, stand up for your friend and stop the others from doing so. I'm sure you have heard this saying: You can't be a friend of the world and a friend of God at the same time.

We should correct our friend when they are in the wrong but be gentle with our words.

Proverbs 27: 5-6 "Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses"

Correcting might bring temporal hurt but we should still take the risk to correct out of care and love. By doing so, our friend can also grow.

True friendship last

When friendship problems surface, we should rebuild our friendship by putting in deliberate effort instead of moving on and treating it as a phrase in life because God meant for friendships to last.

Ecc 4: 9-12 "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If onefalls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowerd, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken"

Friends can serve together and even serve one another to grow together. ("Two are better because they have a good return for their work")

Friends can stand the test of time as God is also part of their friendship. ("A cord od three strands is not quickly broken")

So, that's basically my take-aways from the sermon ☺

I've also signed up for the youth camp, and i'm looking forward to it hehe.

God bless ✝
